Who is already living at Auriens, is this my kind of crowd?
Any community of 50 or so households will include the full range including people you'll quickly connect with, people you'll know in passing, and others whose paths you may rarely cross. In many ways, that's a sign of a healthy community rather than a curated one.
What often surprises people, according to Emily, Resident Advisor at Auriens Chelsea, is how familiar it can feel. More than 90% of residents, or their families, come from within two miles of the building, and many have lived in Kensington & Chelsea for more than 35 years. It's not uncommon to discover shared connections, familiar streets, overlapping careers or mutual acquaintances. As Emily puts it, the sense of belonging often comes not from having a particular "type" of resident, but from a collection of small and unexpected connections.
Of course, none of this comes with any expectation to be social. The coffee mornings, talks and dinners are there for those who want them, but participation is always a matter of choice. Residents are free to join in as much or as little as they wish - community is available, never imposed.
Before moving in, I worried about not knowing anyone. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that many residents were from my neighbourhood and shared similar professional backgrounds. It's like a community within a community.
Many people who visit Auriens aren't actively planning a move. They're simply interested in understanding what their future options might look like. If that sounds familiar, Emily would be delighted to welcome you for a coffee, introduce you to residents and answer any questions you may have. To arrange, contact Alice Hawke on 07917 352 411.
